Dates & Times I
Enrolment
Students can enter the course at any
time, but it is recommended that students begin in January and attend
for the full year.
New students must make an appointment
to see the Further Education Co-ordinator to discuss the right level of
course for them, to complete the enrolment forms and receive the
information they need. Phone Leigh Cook 0n 03 9350 4624. You are welcome
to bring an interpreter or a friend to this appointment if you need
extra help.
Course Delivery
Teachers hold all the required
qualifications to teacher this course, and where possible will be
assisted by a volunteer in the classroom.
Students will have access to
computers as a learning tool. At least one class per week will be held
in the computer training room. Students may also use our public access
computers during other nominated times
There are many different ways to learn and in this class you will read,
write, speak, go out into the community. It will also be important for
students to practice their English outside of the class.
Student
Resources
A detailed
Student Information Booklet is freely available from the office. If you
wish to discuss anything about your class, your learning or your
learning options and future directions please feel free to talk to your
teacher or Leigh Cook (Further Education Co-ordinator).
Students are not
required to purchase any learning materials but are asked to bring a
notebook, pen, pencil and eraser. A floppy disc for the saving of
student work will be supplied or students can bring their own memory
stick. The use of a bilingual dictionary is strongly encouraged - if you
have one, bring it with you
Student Support
You are always welcome to talk to your teacher of the Further Education
Co-ordinator if there is anything that you are not happy about, or that
is worrying you. If you have a complaint or a grievance, it will be
respected and dealt with in line with the House policy and procedures.
Childcare
If you need childcare while you are attending your class, please talk to
us in the office and we will try to arrange a place for your child in
advance. Limited places are available and a fee applies. There will be
an application form(s) to fill in before your child can begin.
Assessment
Assessment may
sound worrying now, but you will feel comfortable in your class, and it
will be worth it when you are awarded your certificate.
All students
have the right to request that they not be assessed. Please advise your
tutor if you do not wish to be assessed.
Students work
and progress will be assessed against the performance criteria and
evidence required to demonstrate competency in the unit. Assessment will
